Taylor warns Tevez he could face the sack from Man City
PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has warned Carlos Tevez he could face the sack from Manchester City if he has disobeyed club orders not to return to Argentina.
The troubled striker has apparently gone back to his native country against the club?s wishes, after they instructed him to remain in Manchester to continue the fitness regime they have set for him.
And Taylor admits he?s all but lost patience with the petulant forward.
He said: ?I did defend him [against the original allegations]. That?s the job of the PFA, and my job. People say at times I can be accused of defending the indefensible, but it?s very difficult now to be in a situation where we put our heads on the block. I do feel very disappointed to say the least.
?Coming so soon [after the previous problems], when I was hoping things could move on, it?s gone into reverse and he?s now left in a position where he becomes very vulnerable. It?s not only me, I?m sure his advisers must also be wondering where we go from here.?
And Taylor admits Manchester City now have grounds to consider the ultimate sanction ? dismissal for gross breach of contract.
?His actions are not doing him any good at all and they are leaving him very vulnerable to action by the club?Gordon Taylor
?His actions are not doing him any good at all and they are leaving him very vulnerable to action by the club,? Taylor added on Sky Sports. ?They could consider very serious sanctions coming so soon after the last problem.
?The lad?s digging himself a hole and it?s getting deeper and it?s a worry to me how we get out of this. His actions aren?t what we would recommend to any other player.
?Bearing in mind what?s happened, if he was clearly told ? as I have been informed ? that he was not to return to Argentina and he?s flagrantly breached that instruction, that goes to the heart of the contract and could be gross misconduct in anybody?s view.
?It?s a serious situation and one the PFA aren?t happy about it, and I?m sure neither are Manchester City.?
